WHY WAGS

A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDERS

Currently, there are more than 14,000 dog rescues operating in the United States. Most of these rescues are privately owned and depend solely on public donations for survival. For donors, trust is the basis of charitable giving and knowing how their donation is being used and the impact it makes is essential. This trust is built over time through transparent action and clear communication.

As lucky owners of rescue pitties, we at Wags Dog Rescue understand how hard rescues work everyday to improve the lives of pups in need. Though their hearts overflow with passion, their coffers often come up short. Day-to-day costs like rent, utilities, food, and veterinary bills can drain limited resources, forcing difficult choices and limiting their ability to help more dogs. We see ourselves as an ally, an essential support to these rescues by working closely alongside and ensuring the strategic funding we provide via our donors is used in one of the following four key areas: general operating funds, dog specific sponsorships, emergency vet funds, and education and advocacy initiatives.

By working closely with our partner rescues and distributing grants across these four strategic areas, we aim to provide the stability needed for them to maximize their life-changing impact, while establishing and building trust with donors. Our thorough and transparent vetting process ensures these grants provide the greatest impact. We analyze budgets, systems, and leadership to guarantee operational effectiveness and fiscal responsibility. When we invest in a rescue’s future, we do so confidently, knowing our community’s compassion will be maximized.

We hope you will join us as we work with one sole goal: Make more tails wag!

FUNDING INITIATIVES

HOW WE DIRECT FUNDS

GENERAL
OPERATING FUNDS

We provide these unrestricted funds to local rescues, helping cover daily expenses like rent and salaries. This support tackles unexpected costs, allowing them to stay focused on saving our furry friends

DOG
SPONSORSHIPS

We sponsor dogs that are hard to adopt due to medical or behavioral challenges, covering their veterinary care, training, and daily upkeep. This support eases financial stress on local rescues, enhancing these dogs' chances of finding a forever home.

EMERGENCY
VET FUNDS

We're here to help by subsidizing or directly paying vet bills for local rescues with dogs in urgent medical situations. This swift support ensures dogs get the immediate care they need, lightening the financial load on rescues and aiding in each dog's journey to recovery.

EDUCATION AND
ADVOCACY

We’re providing educational resources for new and potential dog parents and working to encourage the fostering and adoption of stigmatized breeds, especially pit bulls. Our aim is to create happier homes for more dogs.
